After a fantastic 2010 CPAC is excited to welcome in 2011 with the remainder of our current season and the start of our next season!

We have recently started renovations on our dressing room through the generous funding of a Rotary grant. Pictured below is board trustee Kitrina Mazaher (center) accepting the grant with Rotary members Fran Taylor (left) and Debbie Robinson (right).

Currently in rehearsal is our upcoming winter show, “Our Town” by Thornton Wilder. CPAC will bring this Pulitzer prize winner to its stage February 18-20 and 25-27. Show times are 7:00 pm for Friday and Saturday shows and 3:00 pm for Sunday shows with tickets priced as $10 for adults, $8 for students and seniors and free for children 2 and under.

Auditions for “Nunsense” have been announced. Dates are Sunday, January 16th at 1 pm and Tuesday, January 18th at 6pm. Both auditions will be held at the theatre and only one audition needs to be attended. Please have a song prepared and be ready for some dance work. Please see the Auditions page for more details about the musical comedy.

The cast for our Christmas production, The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge, is almost ready to bring you another great CPAC show! This show should be a great addition to your celebration of the season, along with all of the activities downtown. Show dates are below. Due to large group attendance, please call the theater to reserve a seat. Also, we will have boxes available to drop off food items for GRACE Pantry and new toys for Secret Santa. We hope to see you at the theater!

The Trial of Ebenezer Scrooge – A Comedy by Mark Brown

The Trial of the Century! A year after his miraculous transformation, Ebenezer Scrooge is back to his old ways and is suing Jacob Marley and the Ghosts of Christmas Past, Present and Future for breaking and entering, kidnapping, slander, pain and suffering, attempted murder and the intentional infliction of emotional distress. The ghosts employ Solomon Rothschild, England’s most charismatic, savvy, and clever barrister. Scrooge, that old penny pincher, represents himself. One by one, Bob Cratchit, Scrooge’s nephew Fred, solicitor and philanthropist Sara Anne Wainwright, and the ghosts themselves take the witness stand to give their account of the night in question.

Auditons for Thornton Wilder’s “Our Town”

Auditions for “Our Town” are scheduled for October 10th and 11th from 6-8 pm at the theatre. It is recommended that those auditioning should familiarize themselves with the play, either by reading it beforehand, watching the movie version, or reading reviews and synopses online. A good, brief summary may be found at http://www.gradesaver.com/our-town/study-guide/short-summary/. This production has a cast of over 25 parts that need to be filled. Audtions will be held for the following open speaking roles:

The Stage Manager (the main narrator with many lines)

2 Men, 2 Women for middle aged parents

A girl and boy around 12 years old

Female lead, around 16-18 years old

Male, 60-80 years old for undertaker role

2 men, 25-35 years old

2 boys, 8-10 years old for newspaper boy roles

Middle aged male for troubled choir director role

Male, 40-60 years old for policeman role

Middle aged female for town gossip role

3 teenage boys for various lines

3 adults for various lines

Last Weekend to Catch “Sleeping Beauty Kids”

This is the final weekend of the youth production, “Sleeping Beauty Kids.” Performances are Friday, August 27th and Saturday, August 28th at 7 pm and Sunday, August 29th at 3 pm. Tickets are available at a special price of $5 for students, adults, and seniors and free for children under the age of two. Thank you for your continued patronage to the Cambridge Performing Arts Centre.

Additional Audition Date for “Oklahoma!”

Due to requests for a weeknight date there will be an additional date for auditions for Rodgers and Hammerstein’s “Oklahoma!” held this Thursday, August 26th from 6-7 pm. The auditions will not be at the theatre but will be held at First Christian Church in Cambridge (1127 Beatty Avenue, Cambridge). Please bring a prepared piece of music (no “Happy Birthday’s” per request of the directors).
